Stone or metal lotuses at the entrance of homes and temples are a common sight around the city of Kathmandu.
The more lotuses I started to notice, the more I realized how they were invariably a part of our lives and a constant witness to our journey.
These carved flowers are purposefully installed and are considered sacred. They are often worshipped daily and also the first to be worshipped during festivals - sprinkled with vermillion, flowers, they are a perfect base to place butter or oil lamps and even incense.
